A Mere Bag Of Shells

During the Yankee game the other night a fight broke out in the bottom of the eighth inning because emotions got the best of the athletes. I understand the emotions of the game and how something like this happens but what I find interesting are the penalties a professional athlete receives after some sort of professional misconduct. For last nights brawl Jorge Posada received a fine of thirty thousand dollars and a three games suspension. I have nothing against Jorge, in fact I am a fan of his but a fine of that magnitude given to a player who makes millions of dollars is like a speeding ticket for the average income worker. I can’t feel bad for any athlete that makes an obscene amount of money to play a game. At the end of the day the only people that really suffer are the fans that pay money to see the games of which these athletes are absent due to serving a suspension.
